Monkey
Monkeys are a historically prominent feature in the religion, folklore and art of Japan, as well as in Japanese proverbs and idiomatic expressions. In many legends and myths, monkeys descend from the mountains: a wild area usually considered as a crossroad between the world of humans and the world of kami (deities), as divine messengers.
